This is a cake that I made last year for my world-traveling friend Kim’s birthday, after she came back from a big trip! I didn’t have a spherical pan for the earth, so I used a steel mixing bowl lined with parchment paper. It worked pretty well– it didn’t bake perfectly evenly, but did the trick enough to get the general shape for the top of the globe. For the blue fondant on the earth, I partially mixed in some white fondant to get the cloudy effect. I modeled the caricature figure using marshmallow fondant and toothpicks, and did the writing using edible markers. Happy travels!
